Edition 262

Edition 262’s Front Cover is undeniably very special. As this edition is the final magazine featuring ACA’s Fiftieth Year Content, it was only fitting to display images on the Front Cover that contain many special moments of the Association’s history.
• The top left image is of the first ACA Adult Member, Ernie Harland. Photographer Unknown.
• The top middle image is of Founding President, Ashley McKay, on Silver Coin receiving their awards for their Open Draft win at the first ACA affiliated campdraft, Augathella Campdraft, in 1972. To make it even more special, Ashley is receiving his award from his grandmother, Rose McKay. Photographer Unknown.
• The top right image is a drawing that would become ACA’s logo, drawn by Bill Cox. The drawing was from an image of Bryan Wormwell competing on Zita Simpson’s (now Bonisch’s) horse, Pincher. Photographer Unknown.
• The middle left photo is of the first ACA Juvenile Member, Thomas (Tom) Gleeson. Photography by Sharon Atkinson Photography.
• The middle right photo is of current ACA Secretary (Operations Manager), Gabrielle Franklin (2017 – Present),
inaugural ACA Secretary, Doris McKay (1972-1982) and longest serving ACA Secretary, June Lingard (1982 – 2004).
The photo was taken at the ACA Golden Anniversary National Finals Presentation Dinner, and they were about to cut the cake. Photography by Sharon Atkinson Photography.
• The bottom photo is of Mel Salmond of MS Sketches and Photography, Doris McKay on behalf of Ashely McKay OAM, Rod Carpenter on behalf of Graham Core, Ed McCormack, Cameron McIntyre, Noel Chiconi, Sean Dillon, Ian Atthow and Hugh Philp. Hugh organised for Mel to complete sketches of the eight past ACA Presidents, to be provided to them at the Golden Anniversary National Finals Presentation Dinner.
